Lewis Contractors, Maryland’s Most Awarded Contractor, Receives Five ABC Excellence Awards
Thinkers & Planners. Builders & Craftsmen.
The Lewis Team is a group of people driven by a passion for building and guided by the deeply rooted principles of honesty, integrity, and client advocacy. Providing the same comprehensive services of a national construction firm, Lewis also offers the advantages of working with a smaller sized firm, such as the accessibility of top management. This best-of-both-worlds approach is unique to Lewis and designed to offer clients a headache-free construction experience.
While every project in our portfolio is a special element in the story of Lewis, it is a unique honor to be entrusted as the restorers, renovators, and repurposers of some of our country’s most cherished monuments and buildings, and to work side by side with the renowned artisans and institutions of today while we make our mark in history with the builders and craftsmen of the past.
Walters Art Museum | Baltimore, MD
Originally constructed in 1850 as the first home at Mount Vernon Place, 1 West Mt. Vernon Place remained continuously occupied until it was gifted to the Walters Art Museum in 1984. Lewis Contractors was hired to complete only the second major systems renovation—some of which helped to bring the mansion back to its former glory while working to protect the priceless art which will be housed within.
The Maryland School for the Blind – Preschool, Early Intervention and Outreach Center | Baltimore, MD
The $15M Preschool, Early Learning and Outreach Center project involved the renovation of Andrews Hall—a 36,600 SF building and the construction of two building additions to house the campus’ Kindergarten and Preschool programs. Due to the school’s unique curriculum and special needs of the student population, the newly renovated facility contains modified classroom spaces, a Low Vision Clinic, Braille Workroom, testing area, conference rooms and offices for administrators as well as social workers.
Towson University – Burdick Hall | Towson, MD
This project provided for the expansion of Burdick Hall, a mixed use facility including classroom and recreational sports programs. This project included construction of an approximately 94,500 GSF addition and connection of previously completed Phase 2 and 3 (which Lewis also performed) that provided new pedestrian walkways, site lighting and utility upgrades. In general, the addition will house gymnasiums, administrative offices, fitness center, locker rooms and support operations space.
